APPM is excited to announce registration for our annual conference, held in cooperation and support with APME and ASNE. This year’s conference will be in Philadelphia, opening with a reception at the National Constitution Center Sunday evening, September 11. Speakers will begin Monday morning at 9 a.m., September 12 and run through noon Wednesday, September 14 (APPM specific events will conclude Tuesday).
Presentations will include leaders in visuals, talking about diversity, covering politics and communities, producing films, interactive stories, and virtual reality.
Erin Brethauer and Tim Hussin of The San Francisco Chronicle will discuss their film, “Last Man Standing” and have a screening Monday evening.
Brian Cassella of The Chicago Tribune will talk about his series reporting on Chicago communities living around gun violence the day after a homicide on their block. “The Next Day” series received runner-up honors for Pictures of the Year International’s Community Awareness Award and Best of Photojournalism’s Cliff Edom New America Award.
David Ake of The Associated Press will discuss “Political Pixels in a Pressure Cooker,” covering the presidential election in an increasingly challenging time.
Danese Kenon of The Tampa Bay Times and Danny Gawlowski of The Seattle Times will talk about what video numbers really tell you and the must-haves for mobile media.
James Estrin of The New York Times will discuss the future of photography in an editorial setting.
April Saul of The Philadelphia Inquirer will talk about pursuing personal projects and grants while on staff.
Kate Wurzbacher of Vrse discussing VR storytelling.
Zoeann Murphy and Samuel Granados of The Washington Post will talk about interactive narratives and visual storytelling.
